Finnish Cosmic Rack, FinnCRack, is a telescope designed to measure tracks of cosmic particles. FinnCRack is a copy of a similar device, i.e. CERN CRack, constructed by CMS Tracker group. FinnCRack is constructed using standard CMS TOB components, i.e. layers of silicon detector rods and appropriate read-out electronics.
FinnCRack was constructed and tested at CERN in a close collaboration with CMS Tracker group. In April 2006, FinnCRack was transported from CERN to HIP Kumpula laboratories. FinnCRack is used as a platform for CMS TOB software development, both online measurement and data analysis software. Especially, our group will actively participate in the development of run-time control software, i.e. Run Control. Additionally, FinnCRack will be used to collect genuine measurement data from incoming cosmic particles for the CERN CMS group developing track alignment software. Furthermore, FinnCRack will be used to characterize Czochralski silicon detectors developed by our own group.
