  1. your Curriculum Vitae (CV),
  2. Academic Records File (opintosuoritusote),
  3. and a Motivation letter explaining your interest, suitability, and goals for the applied position(s). If you apply for more than one position (max. 3), please include a separate motivation paragraph for each, clearly labeled with the position title.

Supporting Course

The University of Helsinki’s lecture course Computing Methods in High Energy Physics (PAP331) can be useful for a summer internship by providing an opportunity to familiarize oneself in advance with the CMS experiment’s software and gain basic knowledge of the practical programming skills that summer students are likely to need.

CERN Summer Student Opportunities

In addition to HIP’s summer job positions, CERN has its own summer internship program. Applications are submitted directly through CERN’s HR website. More detailed information about the internship positions can be found through the links below:

Note: The application deadline for CERN’s summer internship is January 26, 2025, and for Openlab positions, also January 26, 2025. Since for these CERN positions recommendation letters from professors, etc., are required, it is advisable to allow more than just a few days for the application process.
