Gruber Cosmology Prize to the Planck Team


The Planck Team, including people in the HIP Planck-EUCLID project, has been awarded the 2018 Gruber Cosmology Prize for the results of the ESA Planck satellite. Congratulations!

Researchers’ Night Friday 28 September 2018


The European Researchers’ Night is held at the same time in around 300 cities across Europe on the last Friday of September (28 Sep 2018). There are also 11 different locations in Finland.

Timo Kärkkäinen, FM will defend the doctoral dissertation entitled “Neutrino masses and oscillations – in theories beyond the Standard Model” (Neutriinojen massat ja oskillaatiot standardimallin laajennuksissa) in the Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki, on 19 October 2018 at 12:15. The public examination will take place at the following address: Gustaf Hällströmin katu 2, Physicum E204. The position will be based in the Particle Physics and Astrophysics Division of the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Helsinki and it will be filled permanently starting from 1.3.2019 or later by agreement.

The field of the position is in gravitational wave cosmology, and it will be based in the Particle Physics and Astrophysics Division of the Department. The selected person will also get a startup package of about 150 000 EUR/year for the first three years.

Eligible applicants are university or university of applied sciences teachers or researchers who have achieved success in quality related education or research or persons working in industry who have distinguished themselves in the development, research or education in quality issues. The grant can also be awarded to an organization.
