European Committee for Future Accelerators in its Restricted composition (RECFA) is meeting in Finland on Fri-Sat 30-31 May 2025. RECFA reviews the status of research related to high energy facilities in CERN member countries on a regular basis – the previous visit in Finland was in 2017. The high-level committee is headed by the Director General of CERN, and it has representatives from all the CERN member countries.
There is a full day seminar aiming to give a comprehensive overview of the research related to high energy facilities in Finland for RECFA at the main building of the University of Helsinki on Friday 30.5.2025. The HIP community is encouraged to participate in the seminar, either full day or part of the day. The seminar is a public event so feel free to distribute the information to anyone potentially interested.

“Characterisation of the Medipix4 photon counting chip using X-rays”
Abstract: The Medipix4 ASIC is a CMOS pixel detector read-out chip working in single counting mode, which is currently in development. It is designed to be combined with different semiconductor sensors to convert X-rays into detectable electric signals. To test the chip, I performed measurements with and without a charge sharing suppression circuit enabled at different X-ray fluxes. I also did some X-ray imaging with the device.
