Finnish researchers have discovered a new type of matter inside neutron stars
“A Finnish research group has found strong evidence for the presence of exotic quark matter inside the cores of the largest neutron stars in existence. The conclusion was reached by combining recent results from theoretical particle and nuclear physics to measurements of gravitational waves from neutron star collisions. ”

High energy theorists from the University of Jyväskylä reach a magic limit as first in Finland
“The Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) theory group at the Department of Physics of the University of Jyväskylä, led by Professor Kari J. Eskola and studying strong-interaction phenomena in high-energy nuclear collisions, has reached a significant scientific milestone: Their article, published in 2009 in a leading journal of the field, Journal of High Energy Physics, has now reached the 1000 citation limit in the Inspire high energy physics database. At the same time, this is the first Finnish article in theoretical high energy physics that has reached this magic limit.”
