“Reaching precise proton affinities in non-Born–Oppenheimer calculations”
Abstract: The precision of existing electronic basis sets is investigated within the non-Born–Oppenheimer formalism. A simple modification—uncontracting the electronic basis set on the quantum proton—is shown to enhance accuracy and accelerate convergence toward the complete basis set limit. This approach provides greater flexibility in the core region, enabling electrons to better respond to the delocalized proton.

“Modeling the effect of additives on glass transition and chain dynamics in PHBV”
Abstract: A promising biodegradable alternative for food-packaging has turned out to be poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), known as PHBV in short. However, drawbacks also exist, such as a low glass transition temperature (Tg), causing the material to lose beneficial properties when stored at ambient conditions. A solution is to blend PHBV with additive molecules to increase Tg, and molecular dynamics simulations can help when scanning over a large list of additives. The talk will present how to accurately determine Tg from simulation data together with the results from the additive scan.
