“Probing into quinone binding in respiratory complex 1 using machine learning methods”
Abstract: Quinone binding is a central step in the mechanism of respiratory complex 1, leading to global structural changes related to proton pumping, and to transferring electrons to other components in the electron transfer chain. In this talk, some methods and results on using machine learning on molecular dynamics trajectories are presented, focusing on the relationship between quinone binding and the change in protein structure.
The Department of Physics invites applications for a
UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER IN EXPERIMENTAL X-RAY PHYSICS IN MATERIALS RESEARCH
starting from 1st September 2022 (or as agreed).
The selected candidate will work in the environment formed by the materials and detection technology research at the Department of Physics, having at hand the facilities of the X-ray laboratory (www.xraylab.fi ), Accelerator Laboratory (www.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/helsinki-accelerator-laboratory ) and the Detector Laboratory (www.hip.fi/detector-laboratory/ ).

Welcome to join Sustainability Science Days conference, an international, two-day conference organised jointly by Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS) and Aalto University, on 18th–19th of May 2022. Helsingin Sanomain Säätiö pyytää ehdotuksia Tiedettä suomeksi -palkinnon saajiksi. Toista kertaa jaettavan palkinnon tarkoituksena on tukea viestinnän alalla tehtävää suomenkielistä tieteellistä julkaisemista ja nostaa sen arvostusta.
Palkinto voidaan myöntää yksittäiselle henkilölle, kustantamolle tai muulle yhteisölle.
Palkinnon suuruus on 25 000 euroa. Palkinto voidaan jakaa korkeintaan kolmen saajan kesken ja se myönnetään 30.4.2022 mennessä tulleiden ehdotusten pohjalta.
