Our speaker is Peter Liljeroth,who is a professor at the Department of Applied Physics at Aalto University, Finland, since 2011 and heads the Atomic Scale Physics group.The title of his talk is ”Designer quantum materials with van der Waals heterostructures. Peter will illustrate the idea using his recent results on realizing topological superconductivity and artificial heavy fermion systems in vdW heterostructures.

The Department of Physics invites applications for a

UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER IN EXPERIMENTAL X-RAY PHYSICS IN MATERIALS RESEARCH

starting from 1st September 2022 (or as agreed).

The selected candidate will work in the environment formed by the materials and detection technology research at the Department of Physics, having at hand the facilities of the X-ray laboratory (www.xraylab.fi ), Accelerator Laboratory (www.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/helsinki-accelerator-laboratory ) and the Detector Laboratory (www.hip.fi/detector-laboratory/ ).

Helsingin Sanomain Säätiö pyytää ehdotuksia Tiedettä suomeksi -palkinnon saajiksi. Toista kertaa jaettavan palkinnon tarkoituksena on tukea viestinnän alalla tehtävää suomenkielistä tieteellistä julkaisemista ja nostaa sen arvostusta.

Palkinto voidaan myöntää yksittäiselle henkilölle, kustantamolle tai muulle yhteisölle.

Palkinnon suuruus on 25 000 euroa. Palkinto voidaan jakaa korkeintaan kolmen saajan kesken ja se myönnetään 30.4.2022 mennessä tulleiden ehdotusten pohjalta.
