KUMPULA PHYSICS COLLOQUIUM (HYBRID), Friday 15.9.2023

Our first colloquium in the fall series is by Anna Watts from the University of Amsterdam. The event will take place on Friday 15.9.23 at 14:15, in Exactum CK112.

 

Anna Watts is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam. Her group studies neutron stars, in particular the ultradense nuclear matter in their cores, and their violent dynamical events such as starquakes and magnetic or thermonuclear explosions. The title of her talk is A NICER view of neutron stars.

The Finnish Cultural Foundation

In the October round of applications, it is possible to apply for a regular working and/or expenditure grant or a special purpose grant, such as Art for Everyone, Additional Million-euro Funding to Science, Science Education, DNA in Time and Space and Eminentia grants. Fulbright-Technology Industries of Finland Grants (Postdoc)

Instrumentarium Science Foundation’s Call for grants 2024

The Foundation has allocated 1.4 million Euros to support medical research, medical technology and related science and economics research. In addition, the Foundation announces Silmu grants for research innovators and science entrepreneurs

  1. Instrufoundation Fellow Grants

The Fellow grant of 150,000 euros is intended for an independent researcher returning to Finland from abroad either to establish their own research group or to strengthen the researcher’s already existing research group. The grant is intended to be used for research work carried out in Finland.

2. Post-doc grants for researchers going abroad from Finland

The personal grant is intended to support the scientific career development of PhDs who have recently completed their doctorates for a maximum of two years of research abroad.

3. Post-doc grants for researchers coming to Finland from abroad

The personal grant is intended for a post-doc researcher coming to Finland from abroad for a maximum of two years of research work in Finland.

4. Grants for doctoral theses

The personal graduate study grant is intended for full-time doctoral work in Finland.

5. Silmu Grants

The Silmu grant of 50,000 euros is intended for research innovators and science entrepreneurs for innovative projects that promote new business. The duration of the project is one year and its place of execution is Finland.

Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia julistaa haettavaksi Vilho, Yrjö ja Kalle Väisälän rahastosta apurahoja matemaattis-luonnontieteellisille tutkimusaloille. Rahasto tukee erityisesti matematiikan, fysiikan, meteorologian, geofysiikan ja astronomian aloilla tehtävää tutkimusta.

Apuraha tohtoriopintoihin mahdollistamaan vuoden mittainen (26.000 euroa) ansiotyöstä vapaa työskentely.

Magnus Ehrnrooth Foundation

The Magnus Ehrnrooth foundation awards grants annually for researchers working in mathematics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, and medical chemistry. The foundation is one of the most important foundations that support research in these areas in Finland.
