Persons who recently have obtained their PhD may apply for a postdoctoral scholarship. The purpose of a postdoctoral scholarship is to enable the grantee to further develop as a researcher. Applicants for a postdoctoral scholarship may also apply for support for research related costs and travel. A separate application for these purposes must be made.

Graduate student scholarships

The graduate student stipend can be awarded for a period of one year or a half year, preferably for the period 1.7. – 31.12. to a student who has been accepted by the university as a doctoral student. The stipend can be awarded conditionally to a student about to graduate.

Kumpula Physics Colloquium online, Friday 24.04.2020

The first online Kumpula Physics Colloquium will take place on Friday 24.04.2020 at 14:15 on the following University Zoom meeting https://helsinki.zoom.us/j/67285788599. Our speaker is Hanna Vehkamäki, who is Professor in Computational Aerosol Physics here in Helsinki. Hanna will tell us about aerosol particles in the atmosphere, and her work on understanding their formation, an important topic for climate modelling and an interesting area of physics. The title of her talk is “Molecular cluster formation in the atmosphere”. The talk will last about 30 minutes, after which there will be time for questions. Säätiön tehtävänä on tukea tieteellistä sekä soveltavaa tutkimusta ja kehitystyötä myöntämällä apurahoja hankkeiden toteuttajille. Säätiö tarjoaa mahdollisuuksia yksittäisille tutkijoille ja kehittäjille sekä tutkimus-/ kehittäjäryhmille. Haasteena on ruokkia nimenomaan sellaista kehitystä, jolla olisi elinympäristömme kannalta positiivista vaikutusta pitkällä tähtäimellä. Apurahojen hakuaika on jatkuva.

In 2020, a total sum of 800 000 euros will be granted for scientific research. Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree or other academic degree on a corresponding level.

Sigrid Jusélius Foundation / Fellowship and Senior Fellowship

Promoting Finnish and international medical research.

Fellowship grants are designed for postdoctoral researchers taking part in medical research projects abroad (1–2 years). Fellowship grants cannot be awarded to researchers who already work abroad.

Senior Fellowship grants are designed for senior researchers wishing to take part in medical research projects abroad (6–12 months).

The spring 2020 application period runs from 16 March until 16 April.
